A national ID that is required to vote will disenfranchise millions of voters nationwide. Of course, this bill would disenfranchise women, people of color, and poor people more than anyone else.

Your mother wants to vote? I hope she updated the name on her birth certificate to match her current name! Over 50% of Americans also don’t have a passport. Hope you can afford $180 per person on a tight budget just to vote!

The way I’m getting engaged at the end of the year and the timeframe we wanted to have our wedding we are having to shift just so when I change my name I’ll be able to get a passport in time😭

Your black grandfather was born with a midwife instead of a hospital bc of Jim Crow? He might not even have a birthday or he might actually have two because of the military! If this bill doesn’t give Americans a ton of time like they did with Real ID, too many Americans won’t be able to vote. Even then, ppl are still scrambling to get Real ID and are facing a bunch of the same issues.

Get your real ID first and just change the name after marriage. It’ll save you a lot of time needing to prove your last name changed (official county marriage license)
