I’m not sure if every conservative position lines up to this. There is a clear conservative line from Burke and further back within the Western canon. I myself have never faced offense or exclusion by conservatives who I have had disagreements with. My experience with liberals rather was even when we agreed on 90% of things, just in policies to reach those goals, I was excluded and slandered.

Populist rhetoric which has become more pronounced within the GOP is certainly more liable to the concern of this post, but populism is not a conservative tradition.
