You cant get a job if you’re on drugs so if we want to help out the homeless systemically we cant be giving them needles

that’s stupid. you do realize they’ll reuse needles anyway and give themselves diseases?

The solution to homelessness isn’t employment. It’s housing

Th point is to prevent disease spread not addiction recovery but it exposes them to that too.

known plenty of homeless folks who are sober, some who even have employment. they either lost their job or got priced out of housing in their town and couldn't afford to relocate. such is life in america.

Ah yes, not worried about drugs being harmful, no. The important part is that they can’t be productive to the economy :3

bc we understand that the alternative is them sharing needles and dying or going through withdrawals and also dying. im sorry that we think homeless people are people daddy

if you had to resort to a dirty needle in active addiction, you would not have recovered. because you would have died. daddy, sit down

you resort to a lot worse than dirty needles baby. and still recover

You know jobs exist that don’t require drug screenings right? Also, this isn’t about getting people jobs it’s about preventing preventable death, pathways to treatment, and lowering the financial burden on the healthcare system. There is quite literally zero downsides to these programs and you have absolutely zero evidence to support your claims. Meanwhile, there’s decades of research contradicting you.

My sister works at a private equity firm in NYC at the top of a famous sky scraper and they don’t require drug tests. Shit, half of them are on coke and they have sharps disposal containers in the bathroom cause plenty of them use meth, peptides, steroids, etc. Drugs use is not exclusive to the homeless. Billions of dollars flow through her firm and over 50% of them are injecting themselves with shit every other day.
