Radical take: the total cost of living for one person and a child should not exceed 90% of the income that a full-time worker makes on minimum wage.
I feel like alot of things need to reflect the minimum wage, however at the minimum these three things should. 1. 1 bed/studio Apartments (regardless of the city) 2. Basic groceries (water, milk, eggs, ground beef, etc) 3. Childcare Thats my hot take

No, we’re rewarding those who have the merit and capabilities to find a better paying job

Shit ass that’s not how capitalism works you only get to the top by exploiting people under you yk what a capitalist goal is v the consumer? It’s profit V happiness why we the people buy based on happiness level the sellers only sell based on profit it’s a fundamental of economics in our country

Thats not fair logic. No one is saying that minimum wage should get you a penthouse and steak and lobster every night for dinner. But minimum wage should allow you the ability to live comfortably and create the foundation for you to begin to move up.

A better paying job is still a reward?? Even if everyone on earth can live comfortably???? I do not need others around me to suffer to feel rewarded and you should feel the same????????

Also what happens to minimum wage workers with kids? You saying that those kids shouldn’t grow up with enough money to be sustained? That is not a healthy take. Holy shit that’s so dystopian

So poor people can’t have kids?? Your logic doesn’t work in the real world and poor people are more likely not to have access to contraceptives and abortion care let alone sex ed

People who deserve more than the minimum get less than the minimum every day, dude. Everyone around me busts their ass every single day and they can barely make ends meet. Are you suggesting that they’re only in that position because they don’t deserve any better? Have you constantly spent your life around people who only do the bare minimum? Haven’t you met volunteers? Advocates?
