The reason conservatives don’t want any healthcare for undocumented immigrants is because they want them dead If an immigrant shows up to the emergency room with a bullet in their stomach, conservatives want to throw them to the street to die

Or, just hear me out, citizens should be prioritized over people that aren’t supposed to be here:

Bingo. If we are able to take care of our own citizens and there’s resources left over then by all means give it to the illegal immigrants. But there isn’t

I think citizenship is irrelevant to your value as a human being. If someone is hurt, they should be helped. Nobody should have to sit in the waiting room for an hour while the nurse looks up their immigration status to see if they deserve to live

If you cared about helping US citizens as best as possible, you’d be in favor of universal healthcare and the elimination of medical debt as a concept

Obviously if they need medical attention help them, but after they leave. And no I don’t. That would mean wayyy more taxes for everybody. I do think the healthcare system can be a lot better than what it is tho

so are you saying that if someone walks into the ER bleeding out we need to check their papers first and if they aren’t a citizen then we throw them out to the street?

Telling the guy with a gunshot to leave the country in order to get treatment, yeah that’ll go well Also objectively universal healthcare would be cheaper for everyone in the long run (and you’d have no medical debt)

That’s exactly what they’re saying. How Christian of them

Correct on the universal healthcare btw. My older sibling is a medical student applying for residency and they’re in favor of the single-payer healthcare system; yes doctors would be paid a bit less but otherwise it helps everyone

Yup! The only people universal healthcare would hurt in the long run would be the insurance companies. Thats it. The arguments against it always boil down to keeping insurance companies safe

Triage/medical care in an emergency setting literally goes off of prioritizing the most life-threatening cases. If a U.S. citizen walks into the ER with a slight migraine but a non-citizen walks in with a gunshot wound of course they’re going to not prioritize the U.S. citizen. It’s not as simple as just saying “well they have citizenship so they should be put first”
