it’s mostly just that adding those laws isn’t necessary because barely anyone is doing the thing they would prevent. do you really think child marriages are occurring in new york lol? let’s compare child marriage rates in new york to the islamic world.

For context the US average is 0.4%, and the ma is 0.71% (west Virginia) or averaging 2000-2018 statistics to 17,000 a year (yet it’s dropping drastically as there were only about 2,000 reported in 2018).
