Sadly, Real ID isn’t considered proof of citizenship. Any person can get one as long as they’re documented on the day it’s issued. It’s not enough because you can get one, your visa can expire, and then you’re an undocumented person with Real ID.

So you think that people should keep on top of having a visa and/or permanent residence across three full generations just to have the ability for their grandchildren to be called US citizens? If your whole issue is assimilation (which I understand is a big talking point on the right), you don’t think that 10 years is enough time to assimilate? 20? 50? Only after three full generations does someone assimilate? After the original person who moved here is dead? The one who built an entire life?

Yes, correct. There is a clear difference in 1st-3rd gen immigrants. I’m not saying they should be deported. I’m just saying they shouldn’t be granted citizenship.
