i'll never forgive capitalism for making it normal to not actually own anything. If you buy a movie or video game digitally, you do not own it. You own the license to use it while that company owns it, so if the company drops it, you no longer have it

As far as I’m concerned this is good. The only thing disks were good for was wasting plastic, whatever discs are made of, and the energy required to manufacture and transport them.

nah dude i'd be livid if I paid $80 for a game and then sony decided to take it off their catalog and I could legitimately no longer play it because it doesn't exist at all anymore... probably wouldn't do this to big games, but smaller indie games are fucked

brother... how do you pirate video games on a console... you'd have to get someone to download the game on... a disc... you wouldn't be able to just plug in a usb, the firmware would block it? unless you can jailbreak a ps4, but ps5 they did a lot to prevent it

best bet will be the EU passing some legislation that you have to actually own the game itself and not just a license to play it while sony has the rights to it

this logic can apply to a lot of things lol it's simply the fact that people want to be able to actually own things and if they do this then more companies could follow and then physical media in any form is dead and no one can actually own anything and that is a problem
