This post is part of a very common historical tactic wherein colonial states portray their colonization as progress, and dehumanize the people they are colonizing to justify said colonization. This is easily visible in American ideas of manifest destiny, where the genocide of Native Americans is portrayed as allowing technological progress and civilization
It is also visible in South Africa’s 1936 Empire Exhibition. Similar ideas were found in Rhodesia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japanese Korea, and French Algeria. The genocide and displacement of indigenous peoples is seen as justified by liberalism and democracy and progress. Of course that liberalism isn’t extended to the people being genocided.
