Is Grant a war criminal?

No, this is not correct. Not every President went to war, and therefore, not all of them can be war criminals.

I think like being a world leader of a very established power tends to come with the automatic caveat that you will eventually end up a war criminal probably

For the record I also think US presidents are war criminals, I just think he didn’t really have time to do war crimes

It’s impossible for a world leader to make decisions that result in 0 deaths, but it’s hypothetically possible for 0 war crimes to happen under a US president

General Order No 11 probably was lowkey but he wasn’t president when he did that and then Lincoln reversed it really fast so it was like a mini war crime

That’s why it was passed, after the Lawerence Massacre and other Unionists and civilians being killed by CSA soldiers that was passed by General Ewing (unless I’m mixing up two General Orders)

I looked it up so it was during the Vicksburg stuff and seems like he got pissed odd at the illegal cotton smuggling and moved 30 Jewish families and Lincoln later record it and he appointed regret it says and had numerous Jewish officials during his presidency and attended a synagogue service in 1876
