Can socialists be short sighted? Yes. Of course. But capitalism is inherently short sighted, because it will always prioritize short term profits over long term good. For socialism this *can* happen, for capitalism this *will* happen. The intent of socialism is to pursue long-term good and flourishing. The intent of capitalism is short term profit, the future does not matter.
