Life has got to be so hard when you have nothing to live for and have no way of finding meaning so you have to invent a worldview that paints you as the victim of a “Jewish cabal”I mean, antisemitism is a passion and not an idea. “Jews run the world” shit is flat out stupid Nazi shit. I think Israel has powerful undue influence over US policy through AIPAC bribing politicians and whatnot, but AIPAC also isn’t the only group doing that. They use the same tactics as a thousand other lobbying/legalized bribery firms. Acting like it’s a uniquely Jewish thing is just baldly bigoted and smoothbrained.
I’ve never really denied AIPAC involvement with things, but I think the language being used around them tends to be antisemitic a lot of the times…that or least heavily leans into it. Yes, it being the 2nd biggest lobbying in Washington IS concerning to me because it begs the question…why???
You pointing out it being not the only group is how I know the at least your criticisms are completely valid. Israel isn’t the only foreign state at the moment with lobbying efforts and it still confuses me as to why we even allow that shit when it’s blatantly obvious. Whether it’s Iran, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, etc…foreign powers with legal lobbying efforts just seems like a wild concept
Yeah allowing for foreign interest lobbying is insane to me, and obviously these groups all claim to be fully funded by Americans who just happen to support the interests of those countries, but I think it would also take some extreme naïveté to not think there’s some intelligence agency backchannels involved in their funding.
I mean I was talking about corporate lobbying before I was even conscious of what Israel is up to, so I know that AIPAC is simply playing the same game I’ve always criticized. I was talking about the health insurance lobby, fossil fuel lobby, and the gun manufacturing lobby LONG before I really learned about AIPAC. I feel like the people who had Antizionism as “baby’s first political issue” are the ones that fall into the antisemitism pit the most often.
The issue is that support for Israel is near universal, is bipartisan, and leads us to do things decidedly against not only national interests but the interests of the entire world. We aren’t bombing numerous countries or starting 3+ wars on behalf of any of those other countries.
