Hi I’m 24, I’m not currently sexually active and have never been on any kind of BC, but seeing how fast things are changing in this country, idk should I look into my options and start BC now to be safe in the future?

idk why ppl are downvoting you. i would recommend looking into nexplanon. its the implant. it was recently approved for up to 5 years efficacy and is one of the most effective on the market. if you choose you want kids before then its a minimally invasive procedure to take it out. but w that, you dont have to worry about if it will be available to be prescribed. i got mine before 5yrs was approved and it expired, so im getting it replaced in 2 wks. for long term, reliable use, nexplanon.

I mean in the sense of getting an IUD or something to be set for the future?

It’s honestly up to you, and how much value you put on giving birth, personally I didn’t plan on it before so I’m def not planning on it now, so my plan is to just get it all taken out but I know many women who want to be able to have kids in the future the only this with the IUD is they are floating the idea that it is also abortion

and a bonus is, i only have a light period every 6 months. it works well, and its set it and forget it. ignore the incel losers, i think thats the best option. its pricy, but check planned parenthood for low income support if u dont have insurance. totally worth it.

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate this, I’ll def look into it! I really don’t think I have any plans to have children in my 20s so anything that lasts 5 years (and through the end of this presidency) would be perfect! If you don’t mind me asking, did you notice any side effects like weight gain or mood swings?

honestly..no, but its different with everyone. i got it 3years ago bc i had debilitating cycles, but im 23 now and the purpose has changed lmao. still 100% success rate for both. i will warn you though, it leaves a nasty bruise on your arm for about 2 wks after they put it in, but i havent had any adverse effects, even now that its expired.
