Is it “weaponized” or just used as a means of displaying what they stand for as a public servant? And before you say “hur dur separation of church and state” that sentence doesn’t mean what you think it means. Separation of church and state means that religious INSTITUTIONS (the physical entity and authority figure) may not have any part in our government but it does NOT prevent individual political candidates from running and operating on a religious based platform.
Um, yes, actually. That’s also exactly what separation of church and state means. If you’re saying what I think you’re saying. A candidate can run on a platform of being a good Christian or whatever. But they can’t make laws based on Christianity. So these laws mandating the ten commandments be displayed in all classrooms and that the Bible be taught to all children? Yeah, that’s what we’re taking about when we say Christianity is being weaponized in US politics.
I got nothing wrong with a politician running on a faith based platform. It’s the way they use that platform and their rhetoric. When the POPE is calling you out for weaponizing and defaming Christ it isn’t a good sign lol. And when I say weaponizing I mean using faith as a justification for injustice, a good example is Hegseth quoting a fake Bible verse about war being righteous and justified by God when that just literally wasn’t in the bible.
putting politics aside, as an agnostic that was raised southern baptist…muslims and jewish folks dont shove it down ur throat. they dont try to evangelize. christians are the ones who insist on making their religion everyone else’s problem. it in the doctrine, so whatever. but thats why they catch the heat most, bc they cant seem to just worship god without criticizing everyone and trying to convert them.
have you been? im agnostic but i genuinely think everyone should go to a mosque at least once. i was never taught about it but being there…i completely understand. God or Allah was in the room. i’d encourage you to find one near you and reach out, they’ll give u a person to help you figure it out and show u what to do. islam is beautiful u just gotta experience it for urself
People are really tired of the Bible having more sway in Congress than people with doctorates and decades of experience in their fields. Yes, you can talk about your religion while you’re in office. But the way you interpret your specific religious texts should never factor into how you make decisions for 400 million people
