It’s a book thing, there was a book written back in the 80s and it was called “lay of the land” by Martin clover. It was pretty popular but it basically talked about how different games were real life and took place in the protagonist Dennis Rickard a 23 year gamer who was criticized his whole life for being lazy and playing games, it’s a really good read! This was the cover art for the book and it even won a best seller award in 1986
