A lynching isn’t just any extrajudicial killing, and officers are allowed to use lawful use of force in certain situations which can sadly result in the death of an individual. That being said, the standards for lawful use of force are strict and are indeed sometimes violated by agents, resulting in tragic and needless deaths. Furthermore, ICE is not a mob but a branch of federal law enforcement under the Department of Homeland Security.
A lynching is caused by a mob outside a court of law or the justice system. Since ICE is a direct part of the justice system that automatically rules that out. An assault is a physical attack, and physical altercations are common in arrests both in ICE and regular police duties, either by the fault of the individual or the officer. While ICE has certainly unlawfully killed innocents, by and large they’re doing what needs to be done
a lynching is an *extrajudicial* killing; that means outside the authority of and without the involvement of a court to permit a killing. ICE being law enforcement does NOT preclude them from extrajudicial killing. if an LEO executes a rapist because he hates rapists, that is an extrajudicial killing, because the courts did not permit that killing. ICE has done this repeatedly
assault has a broad range of definitions but you're more so describing battery; the latter generally being an extension of the former (assault is often treated as the intent to commit battery). assault, in most jurisdictions, may or may not include a physical attack; but almost always includes threats, intimidation, and the intentional inflicting of terror or fear. battery is generally the physical attack itself. ICE has done both
by in large, ICE is ineffective, dangerous, and unnecessary. the only reason they exist is because certain law enforcement functions were cynically split off from other agencies to keep it from being shut down. now they're a bloated agency wasting millions of tax payer dollars to hire virtually untrained thugs to slaughter people – citizen or not
and i should clarify: ICE has not executed any rapists (they don't do intentional friendly fire) but they have extrajudicially murdered several innocent people, including citizens. the way those sentences lead into each other might lead one to wrongly assume ICE or LEOs are killing rapists, which is a silly idea
