Listen I hate Biden, and yall know I’ve been on an anti liberal kick especially hard lately, but it’s worth saying Biden actually did stop an aspect of the forever wars. And trump started another. So.Well first term. He reverted Obama era military cuts. Isreal shit which I won't get into because it's obviously a very contenxous issue. Produced normalization/peace deals between Isreal and UAE/Bahrain/Sudan/Kosovo/Morocco. Greatly improved relations with the Saudis. Withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal (JCPAO) which unlike mushy here states was a good thing according to plenty top security advisors. Reinposted sanction on Iran (”Iran was broke”) ending policy of empowering the Iraninan regime
Kept sanctions on Russia, supported Eastern Europe against Russian aggression. Heavily contrasting Obama on Crimea and Syria. Most of the trump era's polite toward Russia was undone under Biden, for which he was heavily criticized for and played a significant part in the current war
trump and obama spent similarly on the military when accounting for inflation we sold $23 billion worth of arms to the UAE for the normalization deal and they are now supplying arms to the RSF who is committing atrocities in Sudan The Sudan normalization deal remains un-ratified Morocco only normalized after we recognized their control over the native Sahrawi people despite the UN and ICJ opposing this
Something I disliked in his first term was his approach to North Korea tho. At least he actually was the first president to even meet Kim Hong Un. I just dislike the summit style approach. Obama completely ignored the situation while they were testing nukes in international waters every other month
Trump defended the Saudi prince when he ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khasoggi Trump supported the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen despite accusations of war crimes and the humanitarian crisis they produced Trump only did this deal bc he has personal business history with the Saudis, he sold some apartments and a yacht to the royal family in the 90s, Saudi-linked groups spent hundreds of thousands of dollars at his Washington hotel during his presidency
the sanctions on Iran triggered an economic crisis, inflation went over 40%, food prices spiked by 70%, U.S. officials themselves said these conditions produced the violent protests against the Iranian government which led to many civilian deaths The sanctions have caused shortages of essential medicines to cancer and epilepsy patients They scare away international banks from facilitating even any legal humanitarian trade
