I don’t know why every headass has to be some reductionist shitheel whenever it comes to war. Not only is it moronically stupid to assume that you need equal weaponry to fight a state, it’s not even the main reason why private arms exist. Most of the time it’s meant as a deterrence. Today I learned that apparently an RPG-7 and a tank are “comparable arms” to OOP.

Like man war is an entire bureaucratic process, there’s no way to coup-proof a military to the point where you could be like “yeah man nuke your own people” without at least a few of them, enough of them to do it, being like “this guy’s nuts, I think we gotta kill him”

Like even if the high-ranking officers were all COMPLETELY cold-blooded fucks (they are cold-blooded fucks compared to literally anyone else), on nothing but rational self-interest, they STILL wouldn’t let that shit fly. Yeah man do something that will multiply the number of rebels by 10 so they hang all of us, or take out the crazy guy who said to do that, and live. Hmmmm, decisions decisions.
