Oh brother… which right wing fake news grifter did you get that from? Did YOU read his diaries? I did. He literally said year after year he believes the natural transmission between animal to human, and that we inherently couldn’t know for certain which is why he ordered the investigation of the Wuhan lab.

I’d say that’s an assumption one could make without knowing his position on the matter. But given we can know is position from reading what he wrote, we probably shouldn’t rely on assumptions of motives.

For example, he was very upset over the increasing number of infections in late 2020, writing how the president of the United States at the time was more worried about stopping the incoming president from taking office rather than addressing the pandemic. If he really was just focused on his own fame, he would’ve been happy that president was extending the timeline.
