Wait wait wait. But what is the difference between people still remaining extremely sympathetic over George Floydâs death. Both killed. One due to police brutality and one due to hatred of a person. Both not great. AlsoâŚno one is demanding sympathy if you have nothing nice to say donât say it. Itâs not like Iâm spouting out about how people are still talking about George Floyd or Renee Good. Just because it doesnât fit your narrative doesnât mean you can shame people for what they feel.
I canât imagine how terrifying it was as a student. The videos going around right after were horrifying enough in terms of âholy shit I just saw someone get his neck blown outâ- it must have been so scary to be there and have no idea if itâs targeted or a mass shooting starting
Okay fair. But now letâs turn that to Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy? Now what is your excuse for that. Both of their assassinations happened in front of the live screen. Now what is the difference? You can say social media was not as strong then. But then I will turn it to well 9/11 happened and although it was mass casualtyâs it was aired everywhereâŚsame with Boston Bombings. What happened to those people that witnessed that. How are they different than college students?
My argument was that there was more than hate at work if one has become incessantly obsessed with the details of the death.âWell he was racist and horribleâ but you have full control over how you deal with the death. Hating him was already a given, but justifying the hate does not then make your reaction automatically a normal reaction. Itâs like eating a dead guy and retorting that he was a genocidal maniac when someone calls you out on it.
