Look Israeli politics are actually fucked but it seems like people are believing the idea that the only prominent opposition to Netanyahu are more expansionist than him but that isn’t really the case.

Yashar are the predominant challengers to Netanyahu’s Likud party. They’re broadly centrist (which for Israel means pretty evil) but their platform includes drafting Israeli Arabs into the IDF, which I know the IDF is monstrous but that’s distinctly less genocidal towards Arabs than Netanyahu’s bloc.

Do you have any examples of meaningful opposition to Netanyahu who aren’t as expansionist as him? And I’m not talking about candidates polling at like 3%, I want meaningful opposition to Netanyahu’s power

So Yashar is still broadly net neutral compared to Likud in terms of Gaza (so still really bad), probably a bit better on the West Bank, and definitely better towards Arab Israelis.

I’m going through all the parties ranked high on this chart

Together, the next highest party, I would say is comparable to Likud on Israeli expansionism.

The big different is when we get to the Democrats. They’re one of the only political parties in Israel I would say is not evil. They’re opposed to Israeli expansionism. They oppose West Bank annexation and support giving up land there for a two state solution. They want to repeal the statute defining Israel as a Jewish state because it is discriminatory. They are running several Arab candidates.

Next up is the Joint List. That’s the Arab parties. They’re not really relevant to this discussion except that for the first time they’re running a Jewish candidate (on a crime prevention platform).

Then it’s all the more minor parties. Shas (Haredi party). Ozma Yehudit are far right. Currently have 6 seats. The weird thing to me is that it’s Yisrael Beiteinu, not them, that called Netanyahu too pro Palestine. That’s weird to me because that party (historically Russian secular immigrants) has tended to be more open to Palestinian statehood. Guess it’s a new electoral strategy.

So notice that the party y’all keep talking about, the one which called Netanyahu too pro-Palestinian, is tied for 6th place in the current polling. Centrism is dominating in this election, with (hopefully) some increase in political share for the Democrats

The based party in Israel is Hadash (part of the Joint list). They’re a bunch of communists who, unlike the democrats, are against Zionism (the democrats are moderate labor Zionists). They used to have a larger Jewish vote share but are now mostly Arab. But they probably aren’t going to get that many votes.

Okay there you go I made the list. Yashar and Together I would say are similar to Netanyahu in terms of Palestine policy (so a net 0 rather than a move right) while the democrats are significantly better.
