You notice the “left up to the states” talk went away the moment Trump got in office. That’s codeword for “hey democrats, you’d better not force my red state to do this thing!” But the moment that a Republican is in charge, they would be perfectly fine with an abortion ban being nationwide. It was never about states rights. It’s about the issue. Just like the last cause myth. It was never about states rights.

Immigration has been coded into law to be a matter of national security while the supreme court determined abortion is a matter of the states. I get your argument but it's not very stable
