.gaia.

Instead of honking at ICE that buy up hotels and motels to stay in, disrupt the building’s heat, cell, and internet, and slash their tires.

I work at a hotel. Please fucking don’t do that. 😭😭😭 we can’t deny service without reasonable suspicion of a crime/inability to pay, so you’re just fucking the workers over by doing that

Hey so those company’s and people who work there don’t need to deal with property damage. They legally cannot just refuse service because someone works somewhere they don’t like. This will just hurt the owners and workers more than ICE.

I would avoid destruction to property to avoid major arrest with federal charges but blocking their cars in the parking lot is effective and hilarious

As I said, it’s against state law to deny service without reasonable grounds

Unfortunately, we’ve had ICE agents at our hotel before. Despite my hatred for them, I have an obligation to protect their right to privacy while staying with us. Now, if they violate that right to privacy and inquire about other guests, I will kick them out

I would never ever advocate for crimes ever what. I do love the tactics of British and American radical suffragettes from the 1900s-1910s tho

I know employees can’t refuse ICE. This isn’t about that. The hotel could issue a statement to refuse ICE and deal with the repercussions in court. We are at war against Nazis.

That’s not the point. I never said that hotel employees need to take a stand and refuse things at the desk. That’s silly and they’d prolly be fired by their employer.

“I mean hey don’t host ICE” that’s exactly what you said… you are saying to refuse them service.

You want businesses to lose a ton of money in court and have a record… it’s illegal to discriminate and doing so will tear those businesses apart financially.

Yeah but who’s going to enforce that other than the employees? Who legally can’t? It’s putting them in danger not the owners

No, I don’t know your point since you said one thing and are now saying another. You’re backtracking.

So? Fight the good fight. Pay the court fees and succumb to the decision the judge hands down. The point it’s making a stand and ofc it would get caught up in court.

I’m saying the hotel could put out a statement. My ire is directly solely at the business and ICE.

I’m not backtracking lmao. I’m clarifying because you are asking questions. Fuck out of my comments if you’re just gonna be a pain to be a pain.

Fr! And also those employees will then be fired because legally that discrimination. They’ll be left without a job in an already bad job market.

A statement saying ICE isn’t allowed? That’s, again, discrimination and they can face legal consequences.

If the business says “hey employees, refuse ice!” They won’t be fired, the business is condoning it. They business would be tangled up in court.

I mean what’s a statement gonna do? The hotels would still legally have to house them, they’d just have their posts removed. Like you’re not wrong in businesses should be making stands, but it needs to be crafted to be in compliance with the law so it actually does something instead of shuts them down with bankrupt from court fees and endangers their workers

I mean I’m all for going against the law and if they refuse they would reasonably be tied up in court and potentially shut down or fined in the meantime beyond punishments decided in court.

Because the hotels should take a stand. Employees just toe the line. I never said employees should sacrifice their job. Backtracking =/= clarifying things and correcting assumptions you made. I am the master of my words and I’m telling you what I meant. That’s like telling the author of a book “hmm, no I don’t think that’s what you meant when you wrote that”

We’re in an economic crisis and you want businesses to waste money? They would end up paying THOUSANDS in fines just for the ICE agents to be able to return anyways, if they don’t get shut down.

Anonymous replying to -> .gaia. 2w

You realize that will just shut down hotels and only leave ones who happily support housing ice…right? And if they’re shut down everyone loses their jobs. There’s ways to take stands and show lack of support without risking a lot of harm to employees just trynna get their coin

I’m not making assumptions, I’m simply going off of your comments. Your analogy to a book doesn’t work here. Hotels cannot take a stand without putting themselves in legal trouble.
