In order for this to happen, the price of stolen goods would have to consistently outweigh the profit of the store. Basically this doesnāt happen, especially for a chain of stores with thousands upon thousands of locations that all directly contribute to the wealth of the corporation itself.
Okay well this is moving the goal post first and foremost. We went from āpeople losing their jobs, stores closing, people not having access to goodsā to āarmed security makes me uncomfortable.ā Which is valid and understandable for one, but I did want to point out how the material detriment is different. Iām literally a communist btw, I personally think any corporation will inherently exploit its workers and the consumers who buy its goods regardless.
+ Iām ngl, as someone who has worked at a chain for years, I will consistently turn a blind eye to people who are stealing things like diapers, baby formula, baby food, tampons, basic food essentials, etc. Very rarely have I seen anyone steal something other than the items Iāve listed. Most people who are stealing things do so out of necessity, they arenāt stealing gaming consoles out of the blue, theyāre stealing so they can feed, clothe, and take care of themselves and their loved ones.
Yeah like Iām not advocating for stealing per se, but I guess I can entirely understand why some people would. And I think itās more important for people to steal essentials for living (not luxury items ofc) and continue to support themselves and their families than to worry about hurting a multi million dollar corporation.
I think itās about weighing importance. If it comes down to stealing food for my family when I cannot afford to feed them (a situation I actually grew up in), and being concerned for the profit of a corporation, Iām going to feed my family and Iām not going to feel bad about it yk?
