I feel like it’s mostly MAGA extremists that use the term leftist this way, they don’t know what common words like leftist or liberal or socialist mean, nor are they even aware how far right their viewpoints are

i’m ngl i’ve seen people distinguishing leftist from liberal and democrat a lot more recently. you can’t expect people to understand ideology at a high level but yeah that’s the bare minimum
