A gay guy from my high school reposted something on his story about free Palestine. I was literally dying because he would not last even one day there due to his sexual orientation. Yet he’s supporting them. You literally can’t make this up

You're right, if you're gay in Palestine you'll be bombed by Israel.

See here’s the thing, the Gaza airport was destroyed by your favorite apartheid state and never rebuilt. Would you care to tell me when Palestine’s anti-gay laws were passed, by whom, and if they’re enforced today?

Zero, now how many occur in Palestine if that’s the metric we are using to judge how gay-friendly a country is?

You can't fight for gay rights if the population is genocided by Israel

The decimated population of 5.9 million, up from 1.9 million in 1990s

“Israel is why Palestine doesn’t have time for gay rights” is probably the worst take I’ve seen this midterm election cycle so congratulations

Where in international law is that a criterion for genocide?

upvote 12 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 18h

Are you seriously asking why population metrics are important for determining whether or not a genocide is occurring

upvote -6 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #4 18h

Under international law, genocide is determined by intent and specific actions, not the statistical outcome. Do you even know anything?

So idk if you know this but colonialism and dispossession are not great preconditions for a gay rights movement. It’s obviously not a 1:1, but for another example you can look at the suffragette movement in the US during WWI. They were arrested, assaulted, and accused of being traitors for “taking attention away from the war effort”. In other words, it was a time of conflict, not even close to as bad as it is in Palestine, and there was massive backlash against a social movement because of that.

If I spent every day worried about if I’d be bombed for just existing or was at risk of having my house taken and my entire family imprisoned because some dude from random country decided to move there I wouldn’t exactly have the time for a gay revolution. Also look at LGBTQIA+ rights here where we’ve never been at contestant threat of life, it’s only been the past few years where it’s been relatively good and even that is being threatened by the institution

I don’t know which “international law” you’re referring to but with all the recorded genocides in history, the ethnic group targeted faced substantial population setbacks that could not be overcome as time went on. You could classify any act of war as “genocide” with whatever crackpot definition you’re using. You could just as easily claim Oct 7th means Hamas are committing genocide.

Okay let’s look at a Muslim country not in active conflict like Qatar (who funds even more influencer money towards promoting pro-Palestine sentiment than Israel does for pro-Israel sentiment). How are gay rights going over there?

I'm referring to international law established by the 1946 UN general assembly in response to the crimes of nazi Germany, which was when the term genocide was coined

Gay rights are incompatible with any Muslim-majority area (including Palestine) whether you want to accept it or not and it’s not because of conflict distraction. Literally ask any mosque in America to perform a gay marriage for you and report back.
