No it is not antisemitic to question what a government says about an attack, the fact it’s even being suggested is ridiculous. Especially given the fact that the Israeli state has already proven they would sacrifice civilians for political ends as in 10/7

The constant conflation of the Israeli state with Jews at large is a major part of the antisemitism crisis currently happening

It’s crazy to say that Israel sacrificed civilians on October 7th.

Yeah, Israel obviously has nothing to do with Judaism. It’s just an explicitly Jewish ethnostate with half of the global Jewish population and Jewish religious extremists in its government.

The Israeli state uses Judaism as a cover for its actions. For example, the Trump administration uses Christianity to justify plenty of the things it does yet many Christians are opposed to them. You don’t say all Christians are anti-immigrant theocratic nationalists so why say something similar for Jews?

Because we don’t have any data to suggest that the global Christian community supports theocracy or restrictive immigration policy. We do, however, have data that tells us that the vast majority of Jews are zionists.

I just don’t get what the point in saying that is? That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still judge people according to their individual characters. That is the whole point of international humanitarian law

Sure but based on the specific comment u responded to, it seems like you disagree that it is a problem when people try to imply that jews as a whole are somehow responsible for the war crimes being committed by the state of Israel

What would be the political purpose of that killing? Or is it more likely that it was a mistake?

The more Israelis that die the more justified the genocide in Gaza becomes. It was not unintentional, the pilots said as much and soldiers bragged about killing hostages

I’d also point out that they received multiple warnings from several different sources about an attack- including other governments and eyewitnesses seeing Hamas drilling for it in advance. Mossad is very well funded, and it would be ridiculous to expect them not to know anything about it ahead of time.

And as for your question- it acted as very good casus belli. Every time someone dared to suggest that the repeated and intentional killing of civilians might possibly be classed as genocide, yes, even if there might, possibly, be a single terrorist in a tunnel in a 5 mile radius- the very first thing brought up would be “Do you condemn Hamas? Do you support Oct 7?”

I’m one of those people because there isn’t a clear messaging in Palestine activists on whether they actually condemn Hamas. And you can’t have a long term solution as long as Hamas is in power. The casus belli for the war was the October 7th attacks, of which there is no evidence that Israel wanted to happen.

If your knee jerk reaction to someone pointing out Israeli war crimes is “well do you condemn Hamas” then you do not actually care about either Israeli war crimes or Hamas, you are simply trying to justify Israel’s actions in Palestine with whataboutisms. How many times do people have to preface their activism with “I do not support terrorism” before we can actually start addressing the elephant in the room?

the evidence that Israel wanted it to happen is they were clearly warned that it would- Netanyahu was warned directly by phone call from the president of the UAE, even- and did nothing about it.

Warned of the specific details of the October 7th attack, or just that Hamas was planning some attack?

I’m sorry I’ve just seen too many people hold water for Hamas. I think that both Israel and Palestine need new leadership to actually solve the problem. I also think the sole focus on Israel’s actions doesn’t explain the whole conflict. I am convinced that Israel has done war crimes, but when you take the further claim that they want more Israeli civilian deaths for political reasons, I’m not convinced.

they had a literal blueprint for the attack a year prior. Jericho Wall. and, like, I think if you have the highest authority in another country tell you “hey a terrorist group is planning a major offensive” maybe the reasonable response is you should be on the lookout and not hold a concert next to the largest open air prison in the world with not enough security, actually

what do you even mean here like damn, I guess I don’t think Hamas should be killing civilians either, but Israel has killed more children specifically in the past three years than Hamas has killed civilians ever? it seems pretty disingenuous to go “well, this terrorist group kills people too” whenever someone brings up the literal apartheid system present

It just seems like people are very ready to denounce Israel and call for it to stop existing. Which just isn’t going to happen as a possible solution to the problem. I’m not really even sure what the state of Hamas is right now in the Gaza Strip, but any kind of militant group which calls for the destruction of Israel won’t be tolerated by them. The leadership of Gaza is going to have to be willing to make sacrifices like giving up the infinite right of return

I don’t know the details of that but to go from the blueprint of an attack to knowing exactly where and when the attack would take place is a huge leap.

you are genuinely arguing that the “leadership of Gaza” has to appease the Israeli government for genocide to stop happening perhaps if Israel stopped shooting kids then they might see a reduction in radicalization at this point Israel can’t exactly be trusted to stick to an agreement either- what’s going on in West Bank, which has no Hamas presence?

there used to be 36 hospitals in Gaza within a year there were no hospitals in Gaza perhaps the “leadership of gaza” should have ummm uhhh umm in order for Israel to maybe stop bombing hospitals

If you mean appease the leadership of Israel as not wanting the destruction of the Israeli state, then yes. In the West Bank, Israel is taking advantage of the war to increase illegal settlements, which increases conflict. I don’t think Israel currently has a long term objective for the fighting right now other than to capitalize on it as much as possible. Also this is one reason of the many reasons I would prefer a democratic admin who can reign in Israel to be more reasonable

International agreements usually involve sacrifices from both sides. Ideally there would be a strong neutral party to actually make both sides come to an agreement.

I’m not even trusting the Israeli government, I’m trusting amnesty international. And obviously Hamas presence in hospitals doesn’t justify every strike that Israel has done, but it does give them justification to strike hospitals. Which wouldn’t be the case if Hamas cared about civilians and didn’t station there
