 Peterson actually is pretty good in his area of study. Had really good papers on substance abuse and personality risk factors. Unfortunately, he suffers from the same shit Elon does…thinking you’re good at everything because you’re good at one thing.

Politics changes before you even realize it. Jordan Peterson was the guy for a couple years. An inescapable figure. Now he’s dying and nobody cares.

One of my research mentors had him as her PhD advisor and she can back that up. Really smart guy when it came to behavioral psych, but way too arrogant

I mean there was *some* value to his self help, but I’d argue it was just very basic advice anyone could provide that was seasoned with a bunch of pseudo science.

Not that the advice wasn’t valuable, but it certainly wasnt unique or something only he could provide. And he was always kinda crazy about the personality stuff. Like personifying personality traits as mystical creatures and shit lmao

Basic shit does help people who have zero motivation. I don’t know if I’m having Mandela effect or not, but I swear he was saying some of the same shit that Scott Galloway has been saying about young men being angry and what happens when they don’t have good male role models to look up to.

But yeah, I understand your meaning. I think he just did it in a way that was a little bit more modern and aimed at younger men as opposed to the airport business class books like Atomic Habits.
