It does mean something: It means that laws which penalize people for mere being are illegitimate and should be dismantled. And that’s not false.

I think it’s more of a ‘laws are not morality and modern immigration laws are immoral’ type sentiment than it is a claim that any country doesn’t have immigration laws on the books

Yeah this is a great point, referring to illegal immigrants as ‘illegals’ makes about as much rhetorical sense as referring to anyone who’s gotten a speeding ticket as ‘illegals’. Trumps team pushes that term for a very good reason
