Nah fr I feel like I lost a handful of friends around that 16-18 age because me and some of my friends were moving on from the awful edgy stuff we used to joke about whereas others were really doubling down

Well I don’t think those people had the same reason for thinking the edgelord shit was funny to begin with. When I was a teenage edgelord, I thought it was funny specifically because I thought things like racism were stupid. Like “haha wouldn’t it be fucking dumb to believe this?” I think the people who got stuck there thought the funny part was making other people angry

So this is actually for both sides in my experience but in different ways? Like right side is usually edgy but left side is usually immature? It’s kinda hard to explain but for both the trend is so strong to the point where I don’t want to be around either even when politics are not a factor

Generalizing people and judging them solely by their political views is childish. I’m friends with people across the political spectrum. I’m an independent. Both sides have their merits in certain areas, acting like one party is correct about everything is shortsighted.
