A lot of American conservative christians are xenophobic towards muslims because they don’t want “sharia law” when that’s exactly what they want, they just call it “traditional values”

Well actually it’s racism - they can say they have a problem with “Islam” despite it being mechanically similar to Christianity as a code to express their hatred of middle easterners and Africans

My issues with Islam are that the same people that call mitt Romney a Mormon freak that could never be president, clap for AOC for wearing a hijab to an Eid celebration. You are either anti religion or not, if you support the right to practice Islam because brown people good and are anti Christian because white people bad you are not secular.

Have you seen how some of those (especially tradcath) conservative christians romanticize the crusader aesthetic?

Me personally I’m an atheist, but that doesn’t mean I’m not pro-religious tolerance. You’re not wrong in pointing out that no religion should get a pass imo. But just because a bunch of liberal democrats tend to do that with islam, it doesn’t mean we should be racist/xenophobic against the people who practice it

If people were held to the same standards u would be ok with immigration. But when there are areas like Dearborn banning church bells but blasting Muslim calls to prayer, I’m against it. I believe in separation of church and state, but when what’s actually being proposed is trading out the good old boy Catholics with islam I’m just going to vote no.

Look at the debate in England right now over the kirpan.

And to the kirpan thing in the UK—sikhs (not muslims) have been allowed to carry them there for ages with only this one incident (not to mention only a small percentage of sikhs carry these). This really could have been done by anyone with a small knife religious item or not

So you agree with special rules that sihks are allowed to carry blades, while native English people are not? Special privileges for immigrants over the indigenous British people?
