Because debate used to be about reaching compromise, now it’s just about who can hurl enough insults and rage bait to get the other one to stop talking first.

I personally find that republicans/conservatives will shift their beliefs to counter any argument you make on the fly, regardless as to whether those beliefs are compatible with the previous stuff they said. So yeah it’s pretty dumb. I call it the death of shared truth.
