Thomas Jefferson constructed a version of the New Testament that was just the moral teachings of Jesus with the miracles and most of the supernatural events cut out. It’s called “The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth”

If these people knew what Deism was they’d realize the Christianity practiced by a large portion of the founders was something so far removed from their Evangelical Cultist activity that you can argue it’s not even the same religion anymore.
