anti-Zionism ≠ anti-semitism. but the Zionists want everyone to believe that they are the same.

Not sure why you’re downvoted, this is a reasonable take. People can criticize the Israeli government all they want. However, I’ve seen everyday Jews personally taking the brunt of people’s frustrations. Calling US Jews “zionists” who aren’t even from Israel is just showing you’re mad at Jewish people, not how the govt is acting.

i lost family friends, a pair of brothers, when a MAGA diehard shot up the Tree of Life synagogue. Anti-semitism is on the rise, yes, but it seems that Zionists don’t care and are simply using it as an excuse or a means to an end — enacting their Zionism on the world. and that pisses me the fuck off every fucking time i think about it.

I’m sorry you lost family friends at that shooting. As a non-Jew who doesn’t have a large stake in the Jewish community besides some friends, I think there are lots of us who don’t see a need to expand Israel and colonize the West Bank but are sympathetic to the backlash Jews in the US are facing for simply being Jewish. Many claim antisemitism to cover Zionism, but there are also lots of us who just like our Jewish friends and don’t have a reason to care for the state of Israel

Well Israel’s Zionist actions are so fucking horrific and disgusting that it’s stoking the flames of antisemitism. They don’t give a fuck. They only care about their Zionist initiatives and don’t care who dies or gets hurt along the way. Again, it’s a means to an end. They want to take all of Gaza & genocide the Palestinians. They have literally said “nothing but bombs should be going into Gaza, zero humanitarian aid”… It’s making everything worse.

Jewish people do NOT get to fucking slaughter an entire people for some fucking land. They do not get to be ENTITLED to anything, and that’s the sentiment that has stoked the flames of antisemitism — the assumption of entitlement. It’s making shit worse, and then when we criticize Israel’s zionism, people cry antisemitism and it’s too sensitive to criticism. It’s a circular argument and the longer we argue, the more families and children die in Gaza…

Yes I do, in the same way I have an opinion that Iran should not be hanging protestors. It’s a globalized world and your opinions aren’t bound by your race/nationality. I think forcefully taking land and settling the West Bank are making things worse for Israel. It’s making Palestinians increasingly violent and mad their land is taken, among many other atrocities. That’s adding to the antisemitism Jews in the US are facing.

It’s almost like the Israeli government’s entire strategy is to bolster antisemitism around the world. This is kind of inevitable when you broadcast yourself murdering little kids for two years, and plaster “we represent all Jewish people everywhere” on top of the footage.

But the vast majority of Jewish Americans are literally zionists? They support Israel and what it’s been doing…. Zionist doesn’t mean “person from Israel” it means a supporter of the political ideology(s) of Zionism.

Jews will mostly define it as support for the existence of 1. the state of Israel 2. a Jewish state. 1 and 2 can be the same or interchangeable. If you’re going to judge Jewish diaspora for declaring themselves by and large Zionist you should engage with their definition of the word, which does not encompass support for every action the current Israeli government takes or support for ethnic cleansing or genocide.

The existence of the Jewish state is fundamentally linked with genocide and ethnic cleansing… thats literally his the Jewish majority was achieved. The fact of the matter is that even those who found this latest genocide distasteful, generally don’t object in general to the murder of palestinians.

You do realize the Nazis were already deporting Jews at that point right? I’m not sure what significance you see in something that involved just 60,000 leaving the country, that had nothing to do with Israel, and which was controversial with the rest of zionism.

The West Bank is not Israeli land, they create illegal settlements that the government doesn’t do anything about, and then recursively incorporates them as Israeli territory. Very similar to US homesteaders act. They often beat, kill, and destroy families and livestock already living there. Disgusting behavior, you shouldn’t defend the literal worst aspects of Israeli society

if you need a definition for Zionism, here it is, keywords being “ethnocultural nationalist movement” … which leads to the elimination of Palestinian Arabs, historically by violent acts, imprisonment, and subsequent torture and death. IDF is literally shooting Palestinian kids in the back when they pose ZERO threat, including a teenage American boy…

soooo you mean the IDF? like what they did to Hind Rajab? maybe you’re talking about this news article? or idk the hundreds of deaths the IDF has caused since the supposed “ceasefire” … not to mention their opposition for ANY humanitarian aid… Have you forgotten that Gaza’s population was majorly children below the age of 14, so therefore attacks on any civilian targets unquestionably will kill children.

if you read this comment thread from the beginning, you’d know how i connected their violent zionism to current waves of antisemitism. the IDF’s heinous and disgusting actions are stoking the flames of antisemitism bc when people criticize their zionism, they cry wolf in response and call it antisemitism. it’s a fucked up cycle and i’m fucking sick of it. to conclude & restate thesis, antizionism ≠ antisemitism.

i’m not unwilling to call it antisemitism. i’m unwilling to call criticism of Israel’s zionist agenda antisemitism. unfortunately, many Zionists in America WILL call that criticism antisemitic in nature, which that grows frustration from both the Jewish community about the crying wolf and the actual antisemites like the perp in MN to incite further antisemitic rhetoric, actions, and attacks. Again, the brothers killed at Tree of Life attended my family’s bat mitzvahs.
