except the bud light boycott didn’t actually affect bud lights stock at all. The dylan mulvaney ad happened in April 2023. Sure looks like normal fluctuation to me

The boycott led to a 30% decrease in sales of bud light, the parent company didn’t see decline in other beers.

I mean let’s be completely honest with ourselves you can literally see like a 15% decline right after the point that’s highlighted. Yeah it recovered but there was a lot of people worried about it at that time

I feel like any type of claim that a boycott did or didn’t do something lacks much strength unless you overlay it with the performance of the S&P 500

literally the dumbest fucking timeline. All dylan mulvaney did was order a customized can and show it off on her tiktok. Literally anyone could’ve done it. The conservative boycott’s implication seems to be that bud light should’ve refused to serve dylan which is just outright bigotry.

Listen I’m not trying to justify the boycott. I found the whole Bud Light/Target boycott around that time incredibly fucking stupid. But it just seems dishonest to say it didn’t affect the stock

it doesn’t help that immediately afterwards they apologized and put out a “rah rah america ad” basically shitting all over the LGBTQ+ community so any gains they might’ve made with liberal customers were dashed immediately

the stock price indicates investor confidence. It’s about as good of indicator as your going to get of current utility.

If the stock dropped like a stone and the S&P didn’t, that’s saying something
