I used to work at Ellis Island and I got this almost verbatim daily. Bitch I just spent 1.5 hrs telling u how it was bad ur Irish ancestors got discriminated against for being nonwhite immigrants, how are you gonna tell me you hate nonwhite immigrants 😭
Do we as a nation have amnesia? Does she know how much the average American immigration skeptic hated her great grandparents

Literally 😭 I do genealogy for fun. Finding Irish ancestors back in Ireland is nearly impossible. They weren’t allowed to practice Catholicism until 1790 bc of the British. They faced genocide bc of the British. You can’t find records before 1833 because the British-backed “pro-treaty” army burned the public records office in the 1922 Civil War.

They came to America for a better life but in my city they had their churches firebombed. A FUCKING CANNON was shot into one. They were conscripted to die in a meat grinder the moment they set foot in the US. Better than the alternative of being starved by ppl who boil chicken, but they were still oppressed and discriminated against

I live overseas atm but based on what my friends at home are telling me people are really happy for the most part. People hated Adams and Cuomo, so there’s a decent chunk who are mostly just happy not to have them lmao

Yeah we took the boat! Staff who live in Jersey could take a staff bridge that isn’t open to the public but everyone needs a boat for liberty.

Oh fun little historical footnote: Saint Patrick’s Battalion or Los San Patricios are seen as traitors in the US and heroes in Mexico and Ireland. They defected and while it’s not 100% certain why they did it, each and every theory and their supporting evidence is a separate valid critique of the US government.
