It seems obvious now that “pure capitalism” does not work when anything happens, they always choose short term profits over long term proliferation. That’s why the US govt invests in green energy, has oil reserves, bans companies from polluting rivers, etc. That’s why locals HATE ai data centers in their neighborhood, since they jack up prices for normal people

Stuff like electricity and water is extremely subsidized by the US government, so it’s cheaper for the average person *
