I said as citizens we should always support and believe survivors until we have a concrete reason not to and people took it as me wanting anyone who gets accused instantly thrown in jail or having their life fucked up. Yeah ngl Reddit was your first mistake lmao. Here ain’t all that much better, but it’s certainly at least a few steps up from Reddit. But yeah, I absolutely agree. If somebody makes a serious accusation, like that of sexual assault for example, we should absolutely give them the benefit of the doubt. None of that “oh but they’d never” or “they’re not that kinda person” bs, but actually believe and investigate those claims seriously. Obviously not locking people up over accusations, but actually-
do our due diligence to uncover the facts and find proof one way or the other. Too often I see people talking about victims saying things like “oh she’s just crazy” or “why would he ever do that to someone though, it doesn’t make sense.” Benefit of the doubt should always go to the potential victim
