“america first” is a nazi dog whistle so it is likely that the owner of the sign is antisemitic; however, criticizing israel’s government, as many antizionists do, is not antisemitic. zionism and judaism are not the same, zionism is weaponized judaism

like i hate our current administration of christian nationalists, but that doesn’t mean i hate christians. i’ve met many good christians who follow the bible and live in christ’s name. i was raised christian. christian nationalism isn’t christianity the same way zionism isn’t judaism. they’re both weaponized and bastardized versions of the religion for a political goal

i would like to also add that the idea that the US government is putting Israel first also has its roots in antisemitic tropes about Jewish power and control. the US government doesn’t act the way it does around Israel because somehow Israeli interests have taken over American politics. it acts the way it does because it profits financially, militarily, and geopolitically from doing so

if i said “damn nazi germany fucking sucked they were awful” i’m not being racist towards german people, i’m criticizing the actions of their government. why is it suddenly different for israel and the zionist movement? it is arguably more antisemitic to be linking jewish people to israel’s actions as it fuels existing antisemitism and links jewish people to genocidal actions
