Normal law enforcement training in the US is only 6 months, and these MFs only get one and a half? No wonder they’re so fucking incompetent. Also six months is way too short btw, just giving that for some context on how far behind these officers must be (not counting internal impairments ofc)

The background checks also sometimes fail to pick up prior convictions. It’s an absolutely dogshit system attempting to fast track recruitment and facilitate mass deportation, with no regard given to who dies or suffers in the process. A record number of detainees in deportation facilities have died from medical neglect this year alone.

Promises kept? You realize immigrants with valid work visas and green cards are being kept in facilities without medical accommodations or edible food? ICE is kidnapping people straight from their court hearings. They received tens of billions in funding last winter, and again earlier this year, yet don’t have the funds to care for detainees. Just look at how many have died from homicide or medical neglect this year alone. There are also credible reports of sexual torture out of Fort Bliss.

You do also realize that CBP is responsible for the border, not ICE, right? So there is again no justification for extrajudicial killing by ICE/CBP within states. No one is against strict border control. What is fucking unacceptable is the abject cruelty with which citizens and immigrants alike are being treated during these deportation operations.

The funds are being used to recruit thousands of more agents and expedite the construction of facilities without adequate space or ventilation/drainage infrastructure. I fucking promise you, NO ONE is more safe now that ICE/CBP has received even more funding. Literally everyone in this country is worse off because of the violence and social unrest resulting from these operations.

I guess so… I’m just horrified. How can people have no empathy for all of the people, especially the children, locked in facilities without access to enough food and water right now? With credible reports of abuse by ICE agents? It’s fucking unbelievable how many of them have decided to support this reality.

Nobody is safer. There are surveys about domestic safety. You know that right? Like this is publicly available. Safety has decreased since ICE activity has become more rampant

“Break the law and obstruct enforcement” except every time video evidence comes out, ICE’s claims of being assaulted or rammed by a victim’s vehicle are directly contradicted. The “dumb shit” you’re referring to is people trying to prevent others from getting hurt or refusing to exit a vehicle when being harassed by aggressive armed men. Once again betraying your ignorance. There was a shooting 1-2 months ago in Harrisburg, PA, where the officers once again claimed the suspect was trying to weaponize his vehicle against them. Guess what? Video came out and showed that at no point were the ICE officers in front of the car, and the suspect drove off after turning even farther away from them.

The same happened in the case of Marimar Martinez, who was shot 5 times. Go take a look at the bodycam footage of the ICE officers and the texts between them that were later presented in front of Congress. They are liars, they panic and fire inappropriately, and they harass citizens and immigrants for no reason except that they appear Latino.

Law enforcement will not receive the public’s trust if they are constantly brandishing their weapons or threatening to break in people’s car windows. The social contract for respecting authority demands that they act reasonably and lawfully. Every single police force instructs its officers to not stand in front of vehicles, which results in officer-created jeopardy and unnecessary escalation. ICE’s lack of training will never change under the current administration.

Oh, so you’re saying “just comply”? When on video people who comply are pistol whipped, punched in the abdomen, tackled to the ground, etc.? When their belongings like phones are taken and pawned off? When their cars are left stranded in the middle of the road? When they are taken to facilities and denied attorney access and habeas corpus? People should comply to that?

During Operation Metro Surge, ICE illegally used tear gas and pepper spray against bystanders, as well as other unidentified chemical agents. And where exactly were people throwing things at ICE? I’m referring to American citizens when I say the public, obviously. Our trust in authority is rapidly declining.

I wouldn’t say „fails to pick up“. I‘d say actively ignores. They’re kinda desperate for recruiting given the press coverage they’ve gotten, so they‘re dealing mostly with the bottom of the barrel in terms of candidates. I also believe that it will likely lead to a lot of deaths (that will likely never be reported) due to incompetence or because these agents are placed in positions of power over people who don’t have a documented presence (and therefore less legal evidence of existing) here.

I wouldn’t put it past them. They’re desperate for recruits, especially because their existing force is getting grifted out of sign-on bonuses. From what I understand, they have to stay on the force for 4-5 years to even see a cent of the $50,000 bonus being advertised.

How do you know it’s not more if you’re not on the southern border? This administration has repeatedly shown it will immediately move to cook the books if it’s doing badly on something that would result in bad PR. Also, since you seem to like official numbers, Biden deported more people on his last term in office than trump did during his first. Even by DHS’ own metrics he’s underperforming. On top of that, most Biden deportees weren’t green card holders like we see in this administration.

And not only that, the bonus (which is paid out piecewise) can be revoked at any time, meaning that these ice agents would be immediately placed into 10-50k debt that most certainly WILL be going to collections 😭😭😭 It’s a horrible job (from both a moral and financial level) if you even glance at the fine print. Bonus callbacks won’t undo any of the harm they‘ve caused, but at least it‘ll be a small measure of justice seeing these shitheads places in crippling debt for trusting a fascist.

It’s not „whatever“. ICE is a civil law enforcement organization, not a criminal one; they’re being illegally retooled to carry out a mission that was never intended for them in the first place, and it’s being used as an excuse to deport ethnic minorities who have legal residency, expand the American surveillance state, and provide opportunities for graft, corruption, and embezzlement on a scale never before seen in US history.
