It’s actively and aggressively ass fucking both our environment and our brains. The whole stranded out in the universe and entirely reliant on tech thing from Wall-E is starting to look more and more likely every day. A ban is, in my opinion, necessaryI will say, I was pretty high when I posted this. I wouldn’t say my sweeping declaration is as sweeping as it sounds. I think it can be used in the medical field in particular, as well as other scientific fields, to achieve a lot that wouldn’t be possible without it. Hell I took an entire class on how it was being used in the field of physics when I was still a physics major. I just don’t think it should be available to the general public the way it is now, because it still can be very harmful-
if overused/used improperly. It’s becoming a crutch for many people, and it is terrible for the environment. So I guess originally when I thought about it I was thinking of it as a ban in most circumstances with a few exceptions, but it could also be viewed as just having very strict laws
Ah ok, yeah I’m with you on that. I think we should treat it kind of like we treat nuclear technology honestly. Governments and scientific professionals can and should use it to make the world a better place but everyone needs to be aware of and respect how potentially dangerous the technology can be. Civilians aren’t benefitted from playing with it and honestly shouldn’t be allowed to considering all the harm it creates. Or at least not like they are now, it’s abhorrent that google and others
Yes I absolutely agree. It is possible for it to be used for the betterment of society, and I think it should be used in those scenarios. But the current, very capitalistic, approach that’s been taken with it is fucking us. Actively making our society dumber to make more money
