The thing is, they’re not. Independents somewhere between both parties are by far the largest voting bloc. The problems are that the average person has an IQ of 4, the districts are gerrymandered, and a lot of primaries are incredibly stupid.
If it’s true that leftist voters are a powerful and large enough coalition that they single handily lost the election, maybe dems should’ve ran a campaign that catered to the issues those voters cared about?

I wish that’s what those independent voters would follow. So many people have the incomprehensible politics of Joe Rogan. They just go “economy bad, vote for other guy.” Unfortunately, I think weird centrists are a much more significant voting bloc than progressives.
