Why is everyone upset at Flock like it’s a new thing? The governments been spying on us for literal decades already.

Most people know this already, it’s something to rally behind and hopefully lead to bigger action against the surveillance state as a whole

Because their “spying” still had a few pretty hefty checks and balances. Police couldn’t just track you without a warrant and cause, any information about you had to be acquired through different channels. Flock cameras are a private company that works directly with the police meaning they don’t need to have a warrant. Plus they’re actual tracking cameras.

Which they can’t use in court because that would be illegal, so even if they did all it can do is create some very shaky probable cause, unless they want to go full black ops on you but honestly I’d be impressed if it got that far. However they are trying to put in new laws that WOULD give them legal backdoors.

They typically take the information that’s gathered illegally and then hand it off to relevant law-enforcement where they make a clean paper trail

Can you present an example of a court case where this happened? More often it’s usually the company that gets REAL defensive when police ask for anything. The illegally gsthered data is sadly real, but it’s mainly sold to other companies for advertisement.

mate you’re forgetting about the NSA. sure cops can’t use it, but the NSA absolutely does regardless of legality. Obviously flock is bad, but let’s not start glazing the surveillance state.
