Maybe to force people to make walkable cities and use public transportation or something. I assume that would be the only real motivation behind doing something that would definitely cause issues

It would also be a massive boost to small businesses, since bloated national corporate chains would be unsustainable at that transportation burden. It would simplify the supply chain in every market. On top of the other things you mentioned. It would also force energy innovation and accelerate the break from fossil fuel dependence.

That’s real BUT I feel like it could cause a lot of harm in meditation costs and to the poor population since most places don’t have good public transportation and aren’t walkable

I feel like there would be other steps need to be taken before doing this to ensure the livelihoods of our vulnerable

Which isn’t going to happen unless it’s forced to. It will never happen the other way around.

i think jacking up gas prices is a pretty harsh way to push for public transportation reform tho bc it would take a long time to do that and ppl that have cars but can already barely afford gas and/or live in an area where there’s little to no public transportation would suffer the consequences

I feel like there are better ways to enforce it. If we stopped giving so many subsidies and suppressing green energy and everything (because corruption) I feel like people would naturally gravitate towards the better options and lean away from gas. Coal and gas is artificially propped up by our government for their own profits imo

You can’t cause a problem with a law change and then just not deal with the aftermath. If you truly want to improve something, you got to do it the right way.

Incorrect. Some people will always be hurt by any policy decision.

You deal with it by telling them to figure it out.

Well what about the time inbetween the price increase and fixing the infrastructure? How are people supposed to go to work on a world where an hour of minimum wage doesn’t even get you a gallon of gas? You are an idiot
