This ended up being a horrible idea. What are you on about. Minneapolis did a partial defund and crime jumped significantly so they had to rehire people back.

No. Stop trying to defund the police. Just implement significant reforms. Community policing, better training, citizen oversight boards, improved culture, diversify forces etc

First of all, ICE is police. Their uniforms say “police” on them. Second of all, my critiques of law enforcement include but are not limited to ICE.

Ok, I guess you could say they are police, but I think you should have different and unique criticism for ICE because they are federally funded compared to local police departments. So the mechanism to enact change are different for each

Local police departments still receive federal funding. ESPECIALLY after 9/11 Thanks to 9/11 the Doraville Police Department (Doraville has 16k residents only) has a FUCKING TANK

Yes—the reduction in active officers coincided with a substantial increase in violent crime. MPD went from 879 sworn officers in January 2020 to 743 by April 2021, with only 651 actively working, while homicides rose 71% from 2019–20 and shooting victims rose 105%.

By May 2021, patrol staffing had fallen from 478 to 317 while gunshot victims were up 161% year-over-year. The city itself cited the combination of reduced staffing and increased crime when requesting additional police resources.
