nationalism only has use when people/societies are literally fighting for their lives every day. it unifies people behind a common goal and helps them get through hard times. there is literally NO reason for a “first world” or safe country to implement it except to brainwash its people into supporting something they shouldnt

nationalism is the chemotherapy for countries. a last hope of unification and survival if taken at the worst times, and uselessly destructive to your health if you take it during good times.

Because Nationalism is an incredibly complex political tool and ideology. It’s not inherently racist, but it’s been used by racists. I honestly couldn’t do it justice in one YikYak comment but I would highly you to research the role of nationalism in anti colonial, liberal reform, and anti monarchist political movements in the early 19th century in Europe and South America. Also it played a major role in Unifying Germany, Italy, and Japan. So again I couldn’t do it justice in one comment.

If you want more modern examples look at anti colonial movements post WW2 in Asia and Africa, nationalism has played a massive role in those regions of the world
