I mean I don’t know if we should be pinning all of this on the 17 year old piss soaked soldier who four weeks ago was struggling to find the area of a square. feels like the onus is primarily on the systems that make the military feel like the only viable option for the future to those people. But I get what you’re saying, and you’re mostly right I feel

The military preys on struggling individuals. Does this exonerate them of all wrongdoing? No, but have a little empathy.

yeah it’s weird seeing some of my fam flip out about it. like i have proudly left aunt who is raging about it bc my cousin is in the navy and it’s like… he literally signed up knowing this was a possibility. bro is on his second reenlistment atp. he is fully aware that this is a thing that he signed up for. it’s not like he signed up last week and is in bootcamp and this is a shock. he’s on year 5? of being in the military

I’m well aware the overall blame falls on our leadership, I simply cannot and will not entertain cheap excuses to defend war crimes

Hell my dad is still in the service, he told me story after story how the DIs in basic would drill into them that innocent people will die and it will be their fault. They had to say “napalm sticks to kids” before eating every meal
