Never really understood the “borders are fake” people. Wdym borders are fake? How do you know who has jurisdiction?

The difference between immigration and colonization is the power dynamic and the direction of harm. Immigrants arrive in a society, usually are at a disempowered position, and join that society without displacing those already present. They are independent entities and are not backed by a larger power. Colonists displace those who are already present, actively harming pre-existing residents. They are in the empowered position and are usually backed by a powerful state.

You could be the Four Corners monument, placing it firmly inside of one state at an arbitrary point to make sure there’s no argument over jurisdiction.

There are exceptions, but this is the general rule. Immigrants live alongside those present, colonists displace them.
