They might not file a return but their employer may be withholding taxes, so the money is still sent to the IRS

I don’t believe you. They are already here illegally who’s to say the don’t take advantage of the system by being “invisible” and not pay taxes.

You can just look it up, it’s not hard. 90 billion in paid taxes each year.

Because your employer withholds your income taxes, social security, etc, it’s often not up to the individual person pays taxes or not. A lot use a fake social security number to pay without getting benefits. Others apply for a specific tax number.

Sometimes it’s withheld and sent under a fake SSN or TIN. Sometimes no return is filed at all, but the withholding still happens and the IRS keeps the money. In the methodology section, they describe how they estimate the number of undocumented immigrants not filing based on the rates of all non-filers. We don’t have an exact count but there are estimates
