His death had nothing to do with the personal sins of people in the future. Early Christianity got so obsessed with his death and with the right things to believe about him that they practically forgot what the man himself was even saying. The gospels are already a coverup, a polished pr version of who he was and what he was about and they get more carried away as time goes on. Mark, Thomas, and the Q sayings are closest to the truth.

It is entirely reasonable to doubt ancient mythology that purports a dead Jewish guy came back to life, was god, had himself killed so that the all powerful god (himself) could forgive us of sins, which he also is responsible for. That’s ridiculous.

My grandfather lost his brother in the second world war, and served as well. that's the conclusion he drew. His funeral was absent of religious symbols and ideology upon his request. It's my job to carry the same sentiment not just in his honor, but also to make the world a better place. Religion gives excuses to not make the world better.

Has it occurred to you that the reason people don’t like christians is because they’re focusing too much on the words and not enough on the actions? Faith without works is dead. Who said I supported bombing babies? War should be for a just cause and then carried out in a just manor. That means not killing civilians. And I don’t want to take away nutritious food or emergency care from anyone, or healthcare for children, the disabled, or the elderly.

The Bible doesn’t prescribe modern economic or healthcare systems. You’re called to love your neighbor, help the poor, feed the hungry, and help those in need but that doesn’t dictate one specific government policy. The reality is that on both sides there are major issues. You can have ur own opinions on whether healthcare should be publicly funded, private, or a combination and still sincerely apply Christian principles…

The gospel of thomas was written in the 2nd century and is a gnostic text. There’s scholarly doubt that Q even exists, we have no direct evidence of it and can be explained away by Luke writing before Matthew. Mark on the other hand not only shows the basic story of Jesus, but explicitly demonstrates a high Christology and the resurrection. Mark’s gospel could have been written as early as 50 AD. There’s no contradiction with Mark and Paul’s writings either, which were written at the same time.
